Stucki Shows Support at America 250 Locomotive Event

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026, Congress established America250, an initiative designed to recognize the milestone with a variety of events, celebrations and activities across the country.

One of those events took place recently at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, N.C., and Stucki was there – in more ways than one.

The America 250 Locomotive Celebration featured more than 30 commemorative locomotives, freight cars and cabooses from Class I, short line, regional and passenger railroads, all painted or decorated in honor of the nation’s semiquincentennial.

Rail companies represented included BSNF, Canadian National, Canadian Pacific Kansas City, CSX, Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific.

“Stucki has had a major presence on Norfolk Southern cars,” said STEVE DOBIES, senior vice president of technical services and sales.

“They used Stucki side bearings for 100 percent of new car builds for more than a decade because of their longevity and performance reliability.”

Stucki’s products were also present on specially themed cars from TOYX and TTX.

A TOYX bay-window caboose built for the Erie Lackawanna railroad in 1970 – the last caboose built for that railroad – featured Stucki 656-C side bearings. In addition, TTX 250 themed boxcars, which feature Stucki SSBs, were decorated specifically for the semiquincentennial.

“It was impressive to consider Stucki’s staying power over the years because of a core product line like side bearings,” said GLENN HOLLAND, mechanical design engineer, who attended the celebration.

“The caboose and box car represent decades of progress and innovation, and both have benefitted from Stucki products and support.”

The three-day event was open to the public and featured train rides, tours, photo opportunities and a locomotive parade.
