Employees at Stucki’s Lemont facility recently completed a 5S improvement event in the X Work Cell, where tank car components are assembled across four workstations.

The effort brought together team members CHRIS PRONCHOW, GARY PARKER, TONY SIWEK, NICK LAKATOS, ERIC HEIN, JEFF BARBER, BOBBY GOODMAN, JOEL GUTERREZ AND MATT JEPSEN who worked collaboratively to evaluate the work cell, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement changes designed to support long-term operational success.

The project included a variety of enhancements throughout the work area, including:

– Standardizing tools at each workstation
– Improving storage organization and labeling
– Enhancing workstation ergonomics
– Adding visual controls to support consistency
– Optimizing material staging and air line access

Like other 5S initiatives across Stucki, the project was designed to strengthen workplace organization through visual management and standardization. These improvements not only help teams work more effectively but also contribute to product quality, operational reliability, and a safer working environment.

Continuous improvement remains a key part of Stucki’s commitment to operational excellence. By empowering employees to identify opportunities, eliminate inefficiencies, and improve processes, teams across the organization are helping build stronger operations and better outcomes for customers.
