Stucki had a seat at the table when freight rail industry executives gathered on March 4 in Washington, D.C., for Railroad Day on Capitol Hill.

DAVID PURIFOY, commercial director, was among the hundreds of industry stakeholders from across the country who met with members of Congress to request legislative and regulatory support.

“The key bill under consideration is the Short Line Infrastructure Tax Credit Modernization Act, which updates the 45G Railroad Track Maintenance Tax Credit — one of the most important federal policies supporting short-line railroads,” said David.

The credit has resulted in billions of dollars of private track investment across the short-line sector since the mid-2000s.

Industry representatives were joined by contractors and suppliers in seeking congressional support for other issues, including the Surface Transportation Reauthorization bill, which would continue federal support for rail transportation programs, grade crossing safety, safety regulations and modal equity.

“Railroad Day is an important event for all of us in the industry,” said David.

“It gives us face time with our representatives in Washington and makes sure our voices are heard.”
