After a quarter-century in business, Independent Draft Gear remains focused on its sole market: supplying new and reconditioned draft gears for locomotives and railcars.
As it does, Plant Manager ADAM HUNYADI has stepped into a broader leadership role at the company.
Located in Farrell, Pa., IDG operates out of an 11,000-square-foot building designed specifically for the manufacturing, testing and reconditioning of draft gears, which absorb the energy between railcars.
Adam, who joined IDG in 2008, was given full managerial responsibility at IDG after DAVE TROMBITAS, formerly the firm’s vice president and general manager, was named Stucki’s vice president of strategic sourcing for reconditioning and repair services.
“Since IDG operates within one building and has a limited product line, we decided that a plant manager could oversee its day-to-day functions,” said SCOTT DRIGGERS, Stucki’s president of reconditioning and repair services.
“Adam was already in that role, so it was natural for him to take on the managerial responsibilities.”
Adam worked as a grinder and welder early in his career at IDG before moving into the office and handling responsibilities such as shipping, receiving, inventory, purchasing and payroll.
“IDG has been a great place to work,” he said. “I started here in an entry-level position and have had the chance to learn about every aspect of the business over the years.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity and excited to serve our customers and employees.”
