June is designated as National Safety Month by the National Safety Council (NSC), and each year Stucki participates by focusing attention on the themes promoted by the NSC.
This year’s topics included safety engagement, fire safety, risk reduction and slips, trips and falls.
“Following the NSC’s lead, we dedicate one week per theme during the month of June to draw attention to safety in the workplace,” said DOUG SPIRE, Stucki’s vice president of global environmental, health and safety.
Team activities took place every Friday during the month, including donut days, ice cream breaks and catered lunches. Safety item giveaways capped the month-long celebration on June 28.
“Safety is serious business, but we also wanted to have fun and let our employees know how much we appreciate what they do to stay mindful,” said Doug.
Safety is one of Stucki’s core values. Comprehensive training sessions and a company safety manual provide management and staff with policies and updates on safe work practices.
Regular audits and inspections are conducted at all facilities to identify and address potential safety issues.
“We also solicit input from employees to get their perspectives and feedback on maintaining a safe and healthy workplace,” said Doug.
Safety milestones are recognized in every issue of the Stucki Express newsletter.
“We’re seeing more and more locations reach two, three and even four or more years of performance without a recordable safety incident,” said Doug.
“That tells us the emphasis on safety is making a difference, and we congratulate all our employees for their dedication and efforts to keep one another safe on the job.”
