Developed by Stucki, our shear side bearings use elastomers in shear – its strength – rather than compression, reducing long-term preload decay and providing staunch, longer lasting life. Ideal for cars that accrue high mileage or carry sensitive lading, field service shows that the SSB retains its principle preload far beyond one million miles. And SSB models provide significant cost savings when used as an upgrade for the CSB (uses the same cage as the CSB, making it easy to upgrade simply by replacing the elements). Available in preloads of 4000, 5000, and 6000 pounds, the SSB is a reliable asset.

• Impossible to overheat – no contact between wear cap & elastomer.
• Shear technology – yielding greater stiffness and improved truck hunting control.
• Materials are stretched to eliminate permanent settling of the material. Elastomers are not compressed.
• Extremely high simulations have been endured by SSBs without reaching any critical performance decay.

• Force at 5-1/16” per side bearing (at 75o F after initial relaxation):

SSB-4000XT= 4,200 lb

SSB-5000XT= 5,100 lb

SSB-6000XT= 6,000 lb

• Meets requirement of M-948 when installed on cars with a minimum car body weight of:

SSB-4000XT = 19,764 lb

SSB-5000XT = 24,000 lb

SSB-6000XT = 28,235 lb

• Must be installed in accordance with Installation Instructions for Stucki SSB Resilient Side Bearings
