The Vulcan Spike division at Birmingham Rail & Locomotive in Birmingham, Ala., continued its impressive safety record when it passed the six-year mark without having recorded an OSHA-recordable safety incident.

“They’re a remarkable group of skilled professionals,” said BARRY HILLGARTNER, vice president of operations for BR&L. “They’ve made safety a priority and really watch out for each other, and for potential hazards in the workplace.”

Several members of Stucki’s leadership, including RICK CLARY, chief human resources officer, PHIL PIETRANDREA, president of maintenance of way, and DOUG SPIRE, vice president of global environmental, health and safety, joined spike division team members for an appreciation luncheon recently in Birmingham.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the team in Birmingham,” said Phil. “Safety is one of our top priorities, and they’ve taken that to heart and set a tremendous example for their colleagues to follow at all Stucki companies.”

Established in 1986, BR&L’s Vulcan Spike Division manufactures 5/8” x 6” prime track spikes for the railroad industry.
