A. Stucki Co. has appointed Michelle Baker as chief transformation officer. Baker will be responsible for strategy development and execution, and will oversee Stucki’s program management office. Baker joins Stucki with more than 30 years of leadership experience, including 25 years spearheading comprehensive corporate transformations. Most recently, she was vice president of transformation for Aventiv Technologies, a Dallas-based provider of technology services and products to the corrections industry.

OptiFuel Systems announced that two federal Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements grants worth a combined $26.2 million awarded to Colorado State University Pueblo and the University of Delaware will help fast-track Federal Railroad Administration concurrence for the OptiFuel’s TotalZero emission diesel-RNG fuel hybrid switchers and line haul locomotives to 2026 and 2027, respectively. The FRA concurrence will position OptiFuel to deliver the hybrid switcher locomotives in 2026, serving short lines and transit railroads awarded 2024 CRISI grants, as well as those seeking to submit grant applications in 2025, company officials said in a press release. By 2028, OptiFuel plans to begin production of the locomotives, following the completion of FRA concurrence and 1 million miles of reliability testing at the FRA’s Technology Transportation Center.

Schneider National Inc. is a recipient of the 2024 SmartWay Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The recognition marks the 13th time Schneider has been honored with this award, which is given to the top performing EPA SmartWay Partners and recognizes those that excel in improving freight efficiency and contribute to cleaner air throughout their supply chains, according to a Schneider press release.
