PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Feb. 4, 2025) – A. Stucki Company, a leading rail industry supplier, announced the appointment of Eric Carter as vice president and general manager of Birmingham Rail, a Stucki company and supplier of new and reconditioned rail, turnout and switch material for the rail industry.
Carter will oversee all operations at the company’s locations in Birmingham, Ala., Houston, Tex., and Youngstown, Ohio.
“Eric has succeeded in sales and management positions in the rail industry for nearly two decades,” said Ron Port, Stucki’s chief executive officer. “His experience will help us streamline operations and drive growth at Birmingham Rail.”
Eric served most recently as chief executive officer of Geismar North America, a railroad equipment supplier based in South Carolina. Before that he was vice president at Protran Technology, a New Jersey-based provider of safety systems for rail and other transportation industries.

Eric holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina and is a member of the board of directors for the Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association. He and his wife live in Columbia, S.C., and have three children.
